The Los Angeles Textile Show

Fall/Winter 2018

Los Angeles Textile Show Wickliffe Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Textile Show is beyond my favorite sourcing trade show to find the latest on new trends, fabrics, materials, and trims for each season. Though we are well into October, the show actually took place the last week of September with vendors displaying their latest collections of materials for the Fall/Winter 2018 Seasons. As the vendors show their collections for Fall/Winter 2018 season, any of the fabrics, trims, materials, and trends you find at the textile show could be used for whatever season you like.

Typically at the Fall/Winter Los Angeles textile show more Fall/Winter types of fabrics, trims, and materials are displayed. Think of heavier weight fabrics such as thick poplins, flannel, twill, wools, heavyweight knits, and textiles that are comfortable to wear in cooler weather.

You might be wondering why are Fall/Winter 2018 materials are being shown so far in advance. Well, in short with a design development and production schedule it typically takes about 6 months to a year to perfect a garment for design approval, production, and selling to you the customer.

I love attending the LA Textile Show because I often find high-quality fabrics and trims either made here in the USA or around the world. There is nothing more satisfying than finding the best materials for creating our designs for each season.

This season I was on the search of more shirting type fabrics to incorporate more woven styles into our collection here at Wickliffe Los Angeles. To my luck I found a handful of vendors with some amazing textiles that would fit into the casual, sophisticated, and stylish fashions we make here at Wickliffe Los Angeles.  Although I was in search of woven fabric this season, I did happen to come across some awesome knit fabrics as well. From what I found at the show, I'm dying to start working with these new materials and show you guys the new creations we come up with. With that said, I better get back to work!

Take a quick look below at the some of the trends forecasted for Fall/Winter 2018 and let me know which one you are digging by posting a comment below. I would really love to know!

The main show is generally not open to the public but the lobby where all these photos were taken is accessible for anyone to come and view the inspiration boards and fabric swatches.
